Armamar holds its annual Apple Fair on the third weekend of October - from October 13, 2023 to October 15, 2023.

Armamar's famous apples are more aromatic, crunchier and tastier than other apples of the same type produced in other regions. The Mountain Apple is born as the "fruit" of this distinctive crop. Around 80,000 tons are produced annually in Armamar.

The Apple Fair, which is part of the Douro European City of Wine 2023, is a showcase for Armamar's agricultural potential. It is an event that the municipality promotes with the Armamar Fruit Growers' Association. The municipality, set against the backdrop of the Alto Douro Wine Region, is known as the "Capital of the Mountain Apple".

The municipality's cultural, recreational and sporting associations are a major partner in making the event a reality. With their wealth of ethnography and experience, they provide very interesting moments of entertainment.

The musical show will feature Rita Guerra, on October 14, and on October 15, Armamar will host the television program "Aqui Portugal".

 

The event is essentially about highlighting all of Armamar's endogenous resources, with a special focus on the famous, juicy apples and the famous Douro and Távora-Varosa wines. But it also promotes Armamar in its various aspects, such as heritage, accommodation, gastronomy, handicrafts, culture, people and landscapes, and features exhibitions on stands, permanent entertainment and artistic shows.
