The “Douro in Rosé Tones” is back, a distinctive wine event in the Douro Demarcated Region, entirely dedicated to rosé wines, organized by the Mesão Frio Town Council.
The third edition will be attended by experts in the field, independent producers, cooperative wineries and winemakers, with moments reserved for professionals in the sector and initiatives open to the public.
During the two days there will be talks, commented wine tastings, a wine exhibition and tasting of regional products, a boat trip for professionals and the press, musical entertainment and much more.
The opening session will take place on the 17th, at 10am, in the town hall's Salão Nobre. During the day, the invited producers will be taken on a boat trip between Rede, Porto de Rei and Caldas do Moledo, which will include commented tastings of rosés from the municipality and the rest of the Douro Demarcated Region, lunch and the presence of Masters of Wine Elizabeth Gabay and Ben Bernheim and other wine journalists. Between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, the whole community is invited to join the open visit to the Barco Rabelo Interpretive Center.
The morning of the 18th will be spent in the town hall's Salão Nobre with talks by Elizabeth Gabay and Rui Soares and tastings of sparkling wines from the Távora-Varosa region. In the afternoon, still in the Salão Nobre, Paulo-Russell Pinto from the IVDP will ask the question “Do Rosés Age?” and there will be commented Rosé Wine Tastings. At the end of the day, in the Cloister of the Town Hall, there will be an exhibition of products and wines from local and regional producers.
The closing ceremony will take place at 7.30pm in the Paços do Concelho Cloister with musical entertainment, a Port of Honor and a Rosé tasting.
